The Man of My Dreams...?
Thus begins the story that I want to tell you about. The first day of this adventure was August 11th of 2009, when I received my first IM from Jeff from the match.com site.
Day I—First Encounter—We moved our conversation from Match.com to Yahoo Messenger (IM)
I was charmed by Jeff right from the start of our IM conversation. I thought I might have finally met someone who would be fun to spend time with. We seemed to click from the beginning of our chat and there was tons of chemistry between us (from my point of view).
I was surprised that I could feel so strongly about a person that I had not met. Well, hang on, I'm getting ahead of myself here, but I admit I had my fingers crossed that this might turn into a viable relationship. Let me continue to tell you this story.
Jeff told me that he was a lawyer (he is actually a partner) with a Cleveland law firm. As the following events came to pass perhaps that fact -that he was a lawyer- should have been a red warning flag to me. I know, I know, it sounds like a cliché. Sorry to all of you good lawyers who are good people, don't mean to make such a broad generalization!

I've always remained cautious with my communication with men I've met on the dating sites, especially after the "stalkers." Very quickly I felt quite comfortable with Jeff. After a brief IM on match.com, we decided to switch to Yahoo Messenger to continue our chat. We had difficulty in making the connection and at first, and thought we’d lost each other; but then he appeared, and to my delight the conversation continued on.
During our brief match.com IM, I had jokingly told him that I’d been living in a nunnery for the past 17-18 years, and so our conversation continued on.

Jeff (8/11/2009 3:41:40 PM): Wow...you are good...!
Karin (8/11/2009 3:41:56 PM): That was a bit dicey!
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:42:20 PM): lol...I wasnt sure if I had lost you...
Karin (8/11/2009 3:42:29 PM): yeah, it was almost a wash out, so since I now see your last name—I guess I’m compelled to give you mine...
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:43:05 PM): yeah...I wasnt sure if my name showed up or not...I dont use this very often..!
-----
I thought to myself: Is this a good sign? I mean, that he does not use Yahoo Instant Messenger very much...maybe it's a good sign for me!
-----
Karin (8/11/2009 3:43:35 PM): I don’t display my last name (I think) you tell me?
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:43:46 PM): no...says...Karin C...
Karin (8/11/2009 3:43:54 PM): ah...okay...Karin Castle...
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:43:59 PM): I dont know that I meant to display mine...!! ...
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:44:08 PM): hi again Karin Castle...!
Karin (8/11/2009 3:44:20 PM): well, you can get rid of it...but, too late with me!! lol
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:44:40 PM): now you definitely have the goods on me..!! < g >
Karin (8/11/2009 3:45:14 PM): I do, and since I so brazenly gave you mine I think we’re even on that count! Don’t worry I’m relatively harmless...except for the stuff we were talking about before (kittens, puppies, etc.)
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:46:16 PM): yeah...yeah...Im not sure you’re SOOO harmless...< g >
Karin (8/11/2009 3:46:34 PM): ha! ha!—wise man!!
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:46:47 PM): very intuitive...!! < g >
Karin (8/11/2009 3:47:38 PM): yes! well you’ve completely made me lose my train of thought...where were we?
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:47:59 PM): we were talking about you in a nunnery...??
Karin (8/11/2009 3:48:10 PM): oh RIGHT!—baking bread and making wine!
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:48:44 PM): I always wanted to visit a nunnery...figured maybe I’d be popular guy..!! < g >
Karin (8/11/2009 3:49:28 PM): Jeff, what do you like to do for fun (aside from visit the nunneries—don’t think that we have not heard about you either!! :)
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:50:17 PM): I like to listen to music...all kinds...like to hit the restaurants...like to play some golf...a bit of tennis...like a good romantic comedy at the movies...how bout you...?
Karin (8/11/2009 3:51:03 PM): All sounds good, I’m not a golfer...have been to the driving range...but not in years...I like music all kinds...except rap (sorry)
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:51:35 PM): you’re wise...to say away from golf...nothing but an aggravation....and Im not big fan of rap...dont worry...< g >
Karin (8/11/2009 3:51:49 PM): love to cook...am an excellent “chef” in my own rights...but don’t like to cook all the time
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:51:54 PM): although...I can listen to some rap...yeah...I like to cook on occasion...tho...hardly very good at it...
Karin (8/11/2009 3:52:28 PM): I like movies...but I like action, drama, etc. (only because I know it’s fantasy)
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:52:44 PM): Id be hiding under your seat...!
Karin (8/11/2009 3:52:51 PM): ok...I also like the romantic comedy (you got me there!)
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:53:28 PM): k...good...we can take in one of those...
Karin (8/11/2009 3:53:28 PM): you could just hide your face on my chest...cleaner than under the seat
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:53:51 PM): I think I could be persuaded to do that...too...< g >
Karin (8/11/2009 3:54:04 PM): hmm...that was easy! lol...I like hiking, walking, and canoeing...walk my dog about 2-4 miles a day
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:54:46 PM): I usually dont kick and scream too loudly when a woman tells me to hide my face on her chest...< g >
Karin (8/11/2009 3:54:52 PM): not into “camping”...did that when I was younger and did not care for it then either...you are funny!
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:55:25 PM): I like walking too...havent canoed in many years...but could be persuaded...specially if I could hide my face on you...if I got scared..!! < g >
Karin (8/11/2009 3:56:04 PM): there’s a canoeing place not far...out near Hiram, and it does not have to be a race
Karin (8/11/2009 3:56:26 PM): might even let you use my lap :}
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:56:39 PM): yeah...I havent camped out in years either...I somewhat prefer elegant hotel...maybe with hot tub...etc...< g >
Karin (8/11/2009 3:56:49 PM): wait...is this at the movies, in the canoe, or walking?
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:56:51 PM): you are being soooo good to me..!! ...I was hoping to sit on your lap at all 3 ...!! see how forward I am...!?
Karin (8/11/2009 3:57:29 PM): well, my philosophy is to treat people well and then hope for reciprocation
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:57:49 PM): I think Id be happy to reciprocate with you..!! my lap is your lap..!!!
Karin (8/11/2009 3:58:01 PM): you could sit on my lap too, but I’d want equal time on yours—oh good...see you got there even before I did!!! LOL
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:58:32 PM): at least we both have similar imaginations..!!
Karin (8/11/2009 3:59:06 PM): right! ...now just to move this all into reality
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:59:31 PM): this isn’t reality..??!!?
Karin (8/11/2009 3:59:35 PM): oh-oh...back to questions...and no—not reality here
Jeff (8/11/2009 3:59:41 PM): yes, dear...

I think that this man is pretty cool and quite funny. I like his sense of humor very much and we seem to have a few things in common. He’s somewhat bold without being crude and that’s a big plus in my book.
